Job summary

Band 7 family Lead Early Intervention Psychosis service in Birmingham. The role is to lead on Family Interventions. The position holds an important role in actively shaping and supporting the work within the service undertaking and delivering family interventions to our service users and carers.

There will be ongoing process of evaluating family interventions, carer support in the service and liaising with the team and managers around the service development in relation to supporting family interventions using BFT (Behavioural Family Therapy) evidence-based approach.

This Role will be dual with some reduced caseload in care coordinating first episode of psychosis. The core features of the EIP model are based on the NICE guidance for young people and adults for psychosis and ensuring we are meeting the national NCAP (National clinical Audit of psychosis) standard in delivering family interventions

Main duties of the job

The post holder will fulfil a dual role of care co-ordinating a caseload of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis (8 cases) within a designated team combined with providing leadership over the delivery of family interventions across the wider Birmingham EIP service.

The care coordinating role will focus on delivery of key interventions as per the NICE standards of care for EIP. The post holder will demonstrate excellent engagement skills and build relationships with young people that form the basis of offering a high standard of evidence based clinical care.

Working closely with the services Head of Nursing and Clinical Pathway Lead they will support the delivery of interventions such as behavioural family therapy in the 4 EIP teams through the offer of training, individual and group supervision and advice and guidance to the MDT's. Where required they will also jointly deliver interventions with complex cases to support care coordinators and the clinical team. The post holder will also support the services Head of Nursing in improving the offer of structured, evidence based carer support with consideration of how we deliver carer groups both face to face and virtually.

Qualifications

Essential

Current professional qualification (RMN). Post registration training in Behavioural Family Therapy Post registration Training as a Trainer for Training in Behavioural Family Therapy or Caring for Carers

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential

Knowledge of relevant legislation. Advanced knowledge of treatment techniques and interventions in Early Intervention In Psychosis Advanced knowledge of evidence based interventions for families and carers within EIP Flexible, enthusiastic, innovative and self-confident. Able to work as part of a team and to lead others. Skilled in working with other agencies including the voluntary sector. Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures, adult safeguarding, and vulnerable young adults. Previous experience of supervising junior staff.

Desirable

Able to work with minimal supervision.

Experience

Essential

Extensive experience in working within an Early Intervention in Psychosis Service Extensive experience of delivering interventions to families with mental health difficulties. Experience of leading or supporting other staff within this area of work. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
