The candidate does not need to be a prescriber but they need to understand and follow treatment pathways and make recommendations. You will be the only respiratory nurse working in the Practice. Therefore, the appropriate experience is important.

Main duties of the job

Dealing with respiratory issues is the main skill but there are other basic procedures that the candidate will be able to carry out smears, child imms, wound care.

Job responsibilities

A list can be long but main duties are asthma/COPD reviews.

General

Work with other members of the nursing andhealthcare team to organise and provide nursing services for the practice population

Provide nursing treatments to patients inparticipation with General Practitioners(GPs) or independently, following agreed protocols

Provide general and specific healthscreenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral toGPs as necessary

Advise patients on general healthcare andminor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary
