How you’ll help us make health happen:

The Head of Operational Risk – Business Partnering is a senior leadership role within Bupa’s UK (‘BGUK’) Market Unit – both UK Insurance & ‘Bupa Global’ (international private medical insurance). You will interact both with the Market Unit and Group Risk. Key output is to ensure the effective management of strategic, insurance, financial, legal, and operational risks thereby enabling the business to achieve its business objectives.

Key duties:

Support and challenge the management of operational risk across the business

Lead the UK and Regional 2nd Line of Defence risk teams to achieve the Op Risk and ERM Annual Plan

Business partner with 1st Line of Defence to ensure effective execution of risk frameworks

Assess effectiveness of Risk Management and maturity within Business Units and at an Enterprise level

Collaborate with the Head of Operational Risk to embed and maintain effective corporate governance

Partner with other Heads of Risk, to deliver consistent and excellent risk practice

Own and maintain the Operational Risk Framework, ensuring the core activities are carried out to a high standard (Stress and Scenario Testing, Op Risk Quant, RCSA, Incident Management, Change Risk activity etc)

Lead, motivate and develop a team of risk professionals

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

Senior risk professional with significant experience in Financial Services

Excellent business partnering skills; ability to build trust with senior stakeholders

Pro-active mindset focused on ‘getting it done’

Inspirational leader who enjoys mentoring and developing risk professionals

Expert knowledge of Risk methodologies (Op Risk Quantification, RCSA, Incident analysis, KRIs etc)

Passionate about Bupa values – Brave, Caring, Responsible
