The Economist Impact Editorial Director is a new leadership team role within Economist Impact responsible for providing editorial perspective, voice and expertise to enable the commercial growth ambition for Impact partnerships and leadership initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative, ambitious thought partner who is able to think big while helping to execute engaging day to day deliverables.
Accountabilities
Serve as the Editorial lead for Economist Impact partnerships to provide editorial, thought partner and content development expertise for the largest Impact partnerships to ensure highest quality outputs and overall programme excellence Build and deliver cohesive content ecosystem for key Partnerships leadership areas and initiatives, ensuring theme and content strands are elevated and integrated to deliver on the ambition responsibilities include: Work with the steering team to develop and execute meaningful and relevant content and programming plans Direct and edit content outputs across all Partnerships formats and platforms Direct and/or write feature articles to support Impact Partnerships initiatives Potential to serve as spokesperson for Partnerships initiatives including lead workshops, MC at events/forum, host podcasts, etc Contribute to Impact leadership and content strategy for key marquee and industry leading events including COP, Davos, World Health Summit, etc. Collaborate across the steering team to develop and deliver content and stakeholder engagements that are differentiated and valuable. Create new Impact content products and develop meaningful platforms to engage key opinion leaders including podcasts, webinars, article series, client workshops etc Work internally across Impact partnerships and externally with clients to contribute editorial ideas and perspective to ensure Impact programmes and themes are editorially sound, on brand and differentiated in the marketplace to achieve partners goals and objectives. Bring editorial creative problem solving to address issues during partnership ideation, client meetings and delivery to provide a more valuable and differentiated partnership proposition. Work with scheduled and custom events to advise on themes, agenda, speaker identification and help moderate.
Experience, skills and professional attributes
10+ years editorial experience with extensive writing and editing long and short form journalism and story development for key business and macro trends including sustainability, health and new globalization (trade, tech and society, finance). Experience managing staff, external writers and contributors and working collaboratively with groups outside of direct area Experience developing and delivering content packages with outputs across ecosystems - including interactive, digital, visual, social, print and events. Experience and success working with commercial clients Ability to manage several priorities at the same time and thrive in a fast paced environment.
