Weare looking to appoint a Bereavement Support Coordinator to join the BereavementService providing support to people living in and around the Dudley Borough.

As aBereavement Support Coordinator, you will work as part of the Patient andFamily Support Services providing information and support for bereavedindividuals and their families. The role includes assessing referrals,delivering skillful and compassionate support to individuals, and groups. Alongside supervising volunteers, you will be required to assistin education and training sessions for volunteers and others who supportbereaved people.

Main duties of the job

Coordinating the delivery and administrationof hospice bereavement care.

Providing post bereavement supportto family, friendsand carers of hospicepatients and some pre-bereavement support.

Delivering supportin individual, family,and groups settingsas appropriate.

The supervision of volunteers delivering bereavement care.

Workingclosely with all members of the hospice team, in identification of clients and deliveryof service.

Supporting the delivery of educational commitments.

Delivery of post-bereavement supportand advice with individuals andfamilies.

Provision of a supportive approach, which is appropriate to client needs.

Identification of cases appropriate for allocation to Bereavement Volunteers.

Organisation and administration of thereferral of clients, who may need further supportfrom external agencies.

Maintaining workingrelationships with other external servicesand ensure effective liaison.

Job responsibilities

In discussion with the Bereavement Service Manager, assistin:

Refining and developing the systems for the administration for bereavement care, making best use of IT resources andadministration support.

Coordinating and developing the internal and external referralprocesses for bereavementsupport.

Supporting the development and administration of bereavement volunteers' activities.

Providing case load supervision of the bereavement volunteers.

Engagement in the bereavement andpsychosocial training of hospice staff and volunteers and the wider hospicecommunity as requested.

Supporting the development and implementation of relevant policiesand the identification ofservice priorities and opportunities.

Evaluation, audit,and research within the hospice.

Working within the agreedpolicies, procedures and guidelines identified by the Hospice.

Engage in professional development opportunities.

Engage in regular supervision.

To complete induction andorganisational mandatory training requirements and appraisal processes.

Essential

Excellent interpersonal skills. Good written & verbal communication skills with awareness of the need for confidentiality always. Good listening skills with the ability to adopt appropriate style and method of communication. Ability to receive, understand and convey information and ideas effectively to others. Ability to recognise mental and physical health problems and identify when further advice is required and seek support accordingly. Good organisational skills including information, resources, and time management. UpToDate IT skills. Knowledge of the local area, networks, and communities.

Desirable

Experience of working within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
