Our New Homes business provides much-needed build-to-rent and affordable housing solutions, addressing the housing challenges facing our communities.

As a vital member of the New Homes team, you will support and assist the Site Manager or designated manager in the delivery of our customers’ expectations. You will assist the management and control of the activities on site to successfully complete the project in a safe manner, without waste, to the stipulated quality standards, within the contract period and to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, whilst developing sufficient knowledge and experience to progress.

Job Description

Under the guidance of the Site or Project Manager you will be responsible for:

All operational activity from start to finish and ensuring adherence to all Company policies, procedures and practices. Learning and understand the United Way of working ensuring that the processes are complied with and adopted into your daily disciplines. Ensuring that the quality and programme standards expected by the client are delivered as directed by the Site Manager. Working collaboratively with external and internal departments to ensure smooth running of the site and tasks are undertaken in line with the programme requirements. Reviewing and monitoring progress against programme addressing any shortcomings and issues as they arise in conjunction with the Site or Project Manager. Shadowing the Site Manager to learn and understand the site management responsibilities and how they are fulfilled. Working closely with the commercial team to understand and be aware of the financial position of the contract and raise any issues or concerns as appropriate. In conjunction with the commercial team and Site Manager, ensuring that records pertaining to requests for information, verbal instructions, delay and disruption are rigorously maintained to ensure the Company’s liabilities are protected. Assisting in the development of a Considerate Constructor’s strategy and ensure full implementation. Developing an understanding and gaining full working knowledge of the relevant contract terms and conditions and the associated obligations.

What to expect from your Apprenticeship programme

As an Apprentice Site Manager with New Homes, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll be inspired and stretched professionally, but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues, as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living, and the construction industry.

To help you settle into your role, we’ll provide you with a buddy from our apprentice population. They will have some great advice as they were in exactly the same situation as you not so long ago, and you’ll also receive a dedicated mentor who will help guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme to help you achieve professional success.

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Construction Site Supervisor Level 4 qualification with one of our training partners. You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as classroom taught sessions, learning materials, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

A Level 3 construction qualification Apprenticeship, T-Level, BTEC or 3 A-levels at minimum (BCC grade). 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A*-C including English, Maths and a Science Good IT ability. Desirable: previous experience within a construction environment.
