Job summary

The aim of the Fellowship is for the postholder to develop their leadership and programme management skills in a supported environment. A unique opportunity to work on regional projects, aligned with national policies, working within a team responsible for the implementation of the Long-Term Workforce Plan (LTWP) in London. The fellow will provide essential clinical input into a range of workstreams, expected to take on individual projects within the programme which includes contributing to the ongoing National Distribution of Medical Specialty Training programme.

Implementation of the LTWP in London is coordinated through three clusters, with education and training cluster being led by the regional Postgraduate Dean. Within the cluster, a Medical and Dental subgroup, led by the Associate Dean for Secondary Care, is overseeing a range of projects across dental, primary care, foundation, undergraduate and secondary care. Specific projects relating to support for Locally employed doctors, the portfolio pathway route (previously CESR) and lead employer models are being developed.

Please note you will need to be a Postgraduate Doctor in Training, Locally Employed Doctor or equivalent to be suitable for this role.

Main duties of the job

The role of the fellow will include:

Supporting specialties in identifying workforce needs in response to expansion and distribution Supporting the development of the medical workforce including locally employed doctors, SAS and the educator workforce Analyse existing data and evidence on existing and transformative workforce; acting as an expert collaborator for individual Trusts Work with Trust clinical and education leads and with ICS workforce boards to define and plan the implementation of potential solutions Champion the workforce transformation tools (FasterClass, STAR, CLEAR, distribution Toolkit) to providers. Attend meetings and provide updates on workforce transformation projects within specialties.

Job responsibilities

Within London, the focus is on developing a multiprofessional workforce with an emphasis on maximising learning and development opportunities together with educator development, using patient pathways to drive improvement and innovation. This fellow will be expected to contribute to these interprofessional projects.

We are recruiting to a full whole time equivalent fellow post, but flexible working can be considered. Please discuss this with us when making your application. Medical applicants on a training programme can undertake this role as an OOP.
