About Us

GSL Education Hull are looking for a Cover Supervisor for full time/part-time placements in a co-educational school from the upcoming September term. As a Cover Supervisor, the right candidate must be hardworking, conscientious and full of energy, with a strong track record of raising attainment and want to gain classroom experience while making a positive impact on the next generations of young people.

 About the School

The client school in Hull is a dynamic, inclusive institution promoting academic excellence and personal development. It offers sports facilities, emphasizes physical education, and fosters a supportive environment. The school is dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the next generation.

Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Supervisor classes across the curriculum in the event of a teacher absence.
  • Ensure that students are engaging in pre-planned work.
  • Manage student behaviour to create a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members in regard to work being set and ensure you have all suitable resources.
  • Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil attendance, engagement and completion of work tasks.

Cover Supervisor Requirements:

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher or be a Graduate considering a career in education.
  • Prior experience as Cover Supervisor is preferable. (Not mandatory)
  • Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training can be provided).
  • Have the ability and willingness to undertake additional training and courses to enhance your professional development.
  • Empathise with young people and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
