Pontypridd, United Kingdom University of South Wales Full time
Job description

The Wellbeing and Early Intervention Officer role is based within the Wellbeing & Disability Service, a large department within Student Services at University of South Wales. The Wellbeing & Disability Service is currently developing, piloting and rolling-out new Health and Wellbeing initiatives, interventions, events and activities for promotion, prevention and early intervention as well as embedding Wellbeing into the USW curriculum for all students. The aim of this development is to intervene at an early stage with students who present as low risk, but needing additional mental health and wellbeing support, preventing escalation or severity of risk and mental health need.

The role is based at Pontypridd campus with the requirements to occasionally work across other USW campuses includes Cardiff/Newport and Glyntaff. The role will provide you with opportunities to utilise your range of interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

The Wellbeing and Early Intervention Officer will, in conjunction with others across Professional Service and Faculty teams develop initiatives, draft supporting documents and organise events to promote all aspects of wellbeing including physical, mental, social and financial support consistent with the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which endorses a whole-University approach to health and wellbeing.

The postholder will be part of a team working alongside the Wellbeing & Student Experience Officer and current Wellbeing and Early Intervention officers and will be expected to assist with events and activities to contribute to an excellent first experience of students joining the USW community. The team aim to ensure all students leave USW with a knowledge of the support available and the Early Intervention team will play a pivotal role in securing this.

The postholder will be pivotal to the building of a wellbeing community and creating a vibrant culture whilst improving the utilization of campus spaces. This will include working closely with teams responsible for student wellbeing and student experience. A key aspect of this role is working collaboratively across the University in the delivery of work within the Student Experience Plan.

We require our team to work well together but also be confident working independently with the ability to work under minimum instruction with the ability to self-motivate. The role will require supporting the day-to-day management of the Student Navigators and the scheduling and administration of work allocated as part of the Students First Experience.

This is a full time, fixed term post until 4th April 2025.
