CLINICAL CODING ASSISTANT/ADMINISTRATOR TEWKESBURY

Mythe Medical Practice have an exciting opportunity for someoneto join out CQC outstanding practice. Weare looking for a clinical coding assistant/administrator for 25 to 30 hoursper week, preferably across Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the practicesnon patient facing administration team providing clinical coding support to thePractice Correspondence Manager and administrative assistance to the PracticeManagement, Operations and Data Management Teams.

To be considered for this position you must have outstandingIT and administrative skills, the ability to analyse and interpret clinical documents letters, discharge summaries, etc., work autonomously and maintainconfidentiality.

Previous experience of clinical coding and/or administrationin a healthcare or GP practice setting is preferred but not essential as fulltraining will be given.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role comprise:

Inputting data into patients healthcare recordsas necessary.

Accurately clinically coding data into thepatient records.

Inputting and extracting data as required tosupport practice reports.

Filing and storing records as required.

Actioning all incoming correspondence, emailsand mail in a timely manner.

Scanning patient related documentation andattaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.

Summarising new patients medical records.

Processing new patient registrations.

Carrying out system searches as requested.

Supporting all clinical staff with generaladministrative tasks as requested.

There may be, on occasion, a requirement tocarry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload andstaffing levels.

Mythe Medical Practice is an outstanding CQC rated GP practice in the heart of the community in Tewkesbury.

We have 7 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs along with Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a fully staffed practice nursing team and an experienced administration and management team. Job responsibilities

Clinical Coding Assistant/Administrator:

To be responsible for theread coding of relevant information into patients electronic healthcarerecords on SystmOne clinical system, adhering to the Correspondence Management Policy.

Process incoming emails intothe practice generic email read coding to patient electronic record, respondingto patients and external stakeholders.

Provide administrativesupport to the senior management team (operations & practice managers).

In addition, the post holderwill support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support asrequired, in line with the needs of the organisation.

The following are the core responsibilities ofthe clinical coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry outother tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels.

a. Accurately clinically coding data on SystmOneinto the patient record.

b. Identifying relevant clinicalinformation documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately andcompleting any detailed action.

c. Inputting and extracting data asrequired to support practice reports.

d. Filing and storing records as required.

e. Photocopying documentation as required.

f. Actioning all incoming correspondence,emails and mail in a timely manner.

g. Scanning patient related documentationand attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records.

h. Inputting data into patients healthcarerecords as necessary.

i. Summarising new patients medicalrecords.

j. Processing new patient registrations.

k. Carrying out system searches asrequested.

l. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effectiveworking area at all times.

m. Supporting all clinical staff withgeneral administrative tasks as requested.

Secondary Responsibilities:

In addition to the primary responsibilities,the clinical coder may be requested to:

a.Reviewand update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the correspondencemanager and practice manager)

b.Partakein audit as directed by the audit lead (clinical manager)

c.Processpatient recalls as part of the practice long term conditions management targets.

d.Support reception staff, providing cover during staffabsences - Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealingwith the callers request appropriately,Book appointments

e. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordancewith the duty rota

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent above GSCE Maths & English - Grade C or above

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 in social care AMSPAR or other medical terminology qualification IT qualifications

Experience

Essential

Experience of working with the general public in a service industry sector In depth administration and IT skills and experience

Desirable

Experience of working in a healthcare setting, NHS or General Practice
