Job summary

NELFT are currently recruiting for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join their Community Rehabilitation Service. If you would like to get a taster of stroke and neurology, this would be the perfect opportunity

There is a potential that although the post is currently permanent in the Community Rehab Service, that it may become part of a rotation within NELFT in the future. This can be further discussed at interview.

The Community Rehabilitation Service is a multi-disciplinary therapy team providing assessment and rehabilitation for those with a range of progressive or acquired neurological conditions.

The team works across and has bases in the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham. The work is community based, involving seeing individuals within their homes and/or local community. Therefore, being able to travel efficiently and effectively across the two boroughs is essential.

The service works closely with our colleagues across the Stroke and Neurology pathway including our Stroke Unit at Meadow Court, Goodmayes Hospital, and our team of specialist nurses in PD, MND and MS to aid us in the holistic management of our patients.

We are aware that as this is a band 5 post applicants may have limited experience in the field of neurology. The team and Trust are fully committed to supporting staff members development, providing appropriate training, supervision and appraisal.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:1. Provide high quality Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and Responsible for the development and implementation of high standards of clinical careensuring the service provided is needs led, compliant with national guidance and isviewed positively by service Responsible for undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments of service Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy treatments for specialistcase load, in a variety of settings, as an autonomous Provide specialist clinical advice to other team members on the suitability of variousassessments and intervention methods where Act at all times as a role model for Occupational Therapy, raising the profile and value ofthe role

About us

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436) (pro rata for part time staff).
