Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Respiratory, Critical Care and Surgical (ARCCS) team.

This post requires a highly motivated and experienced inpatient Occupational Therapist who is looking for an opportunity to specialise in Acute Respiratory while being part of a dynamic team.

Main Duties
  • Provide specialist assessment, treatment, and advice to patients within your area of specialty, using a holistic approach, thereby facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries.
  • Provide specialist guidance to other members of the MDT on matters relating to your specialist area.
  • Lead and coordinate the Occupational Therapy service provided to patients within your specialist area on a day-to-day basis.
  • Mentor and supervise less experienced staff, including students on placement, while maintaining good working relationships with local Tertiary Education Providers.
  • Participate in the training of undergraduate Occupational Therapists and contribute to the maintenance of staff competencies, teaching, and CPD.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Undertaken clinical educators training.
  • Evidence of recent and relevant CPD.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and lead a team.

The ideal candidate will have broad clinical experience of complex patients during rotations in an acute hospital setting, including tracheostomy, brain injuries, and neuromuscular conditions.

They will also have extensive clinical experience in the relevant field at a senior level and experience in leading a team in the absence of senior support.
