Birmingham, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

National Trust wants everyone to have great access to nature, beauty, and history. The Innovation and Partnership Team is exploring new ways to improve people’s access to nature through working in partnership with others.

For the past few years the team has been working on the 8 Hills project, developing a substantial programme of work to deliver and we are looking for a Project Officer to support on a fixed-term basis until October 2025, particularly in and around Birmingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a fast-paced, dynamic project that offers new ways of engaging with stakeholders, piloting different ways of working and being at the forefront of our work on the edge of the cities.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be part of the Innovation and Partnership Team: a national team working with properties and partners in cities to test practical, scalable and replicable ways of others to improve people’s access to nature, beauty and history.

As one of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll be working with internal specialists and operational teams, and external stakeholders and partners to help make great things happen.

Your contractual place of work will be the National Trust Midlands office in the Roundhouse. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be supporting development and delivery of the 8 Hills project, specifically supporting the Project team to develop and deliver plans, and ensure the project delivers proposed benefits within scope, time, and budget. You’ll also support the Project team to identify and realise community involvement and partnership opportunities, and manage key stakeholder relationships.

You’ll be working with the Project Managers to deliver key elements of 8 Hills and associated projects including managing digital/print resources, monitoring software, and targeted on-the-ground support package, acting as day-to-day contact with consultants, operational colleagues, partners, and suppliers as required.

Other aspects of your work include highlighting risks and issues to the Project Manager as required and supporting the Project Team to mitigate them and supporting project evaluation.

Who we're looking for

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role.

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

experienced with stakeholder management and working with community groups proven to have experience of working on projects and a high volume of requests able to manage multiple requests and prioritisation able to navigate novel challenges using initiative an effective communicator, able to build good working relationships good at listening, building trust and giving a high-quality service to colleagues someone with an eye for detail, good organisational skills and able to work at pace and keep to time a champion of inclusion, who helps support everyone to feel welcome

The package

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
