Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) 

Location: South Shields 

Salary: £75 - £100 per day

Contract: Full time/Part Time 

Are you committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? GSL Education South Shields is looking for a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) to join the supportive team at our client schools in South Shields.

Job Summary: As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN), you will play a vital role in the school’s mission to deliver high-quality education for every student.

Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) Responsibilities: 

  • Assist students with SEN in the classroom, ensuring they can effectively engage with the curriculum.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to help students meet their learning objectives.
  • Aid in managing classroom behavior and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Track student progress and communicate feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
  • Support students' social and emotional growth, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources tailored to the needs of SEN students.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the school's overall SEN strategy.

Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) Requirements: 

  • A relevant qualification, such as CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent, is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN environment.
  • Solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to address the needs of the school and students.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
