Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary) 

Location: South Shields 

Salary: £75 - £100 per day 

Start Date: ASAP 

Contract: Full time/Part Time

GSL Education South Shields seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join vibrant secondary client schools community in South Shields .  

Job Summary: As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you will play a crucial role in supporting students and teachers, helping to create a positive and effective learning environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons for KS 3 and KS 4. 
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help. 
  • Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning atmosphere. 
  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development. 
  • Prepare and organise teaching materials and resources. 
  • Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teachers. 

Requirements: 

  • Previous experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Secondary) or in a similar role is beneficial but not essential. 
  • Relevant qualifications such as a university degree, CACHE or NVQ would be plus. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children. 
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
