Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Hallam University Full time
Early Years Practitioner Student And Academic Services Other Grade 4 - £24,248 to £25,138 dependent on experience

The Collegiate Nursery at Sheffield Hallam University provides full day care for up to 72 children from age 6 months to 5 years and is rated Outstanding in all areas by OFSTED (2023). We are open to all, including University staff and students, and the wider community.

Situated at Collegiate Campus off Ecclesall Road, we are within walking distance of the city centre and an abundance of gardens and parks. Our rooms offer a spacious, child-centred environment with equipment and toys that are designed to support children’s development and learning through play both indoors and outdoors. We have a large attractive garden which is well equipped and allows children to explore and engage in a range of activities within the nursery grounds.

We are looking for an Early Years Practitioner who can work to a high standard, extending children's learning through a variety of interesting play-based activities. You will be required to produce written plans to further the children's learning and development, as well as keeping written records of progress and maintaining excellent relationships with parents and children. You will work collaboratively as an effective team player.

You will need to have a minimum Level 3 qualification as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List and Ofsted Welfare Requirements or equivalent , along with previous childcare experience and sound knowledge of the EYFS. The key attributes required for this role are a strong customer focus, the ability to relate well to others, excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.

If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced with barred lists check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.

Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.

The University is unable to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role.
