About the role

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position to join the programme of medical\clinical optical\NIRS instrumentation and data analytics within the Biomedical Optics Research Laboratory at UCL.

This post will support Prof. Tachtsidis' translational NIRS work. The work will involve both computational and experimental tasks in the context of the evaluation and validation of new Near-Infrared Instruments for neuroimaging. The main tasks will be to (i) implement a Monte-Carlo (MC) framework of the photon transport in tissue that will encompass instrumental constraints, in order to optimize the parameters of the novel instruments developed during the project; (ii) design and use optical phantoms that will validate the performances of the developed instruments and (iii) develop hyperspectral based NIR instruments. In addition, we expect the successful candidate to be involve with NIR instrumentation development, laboratory and clinical applications.

The post offers a unique opportunity to conduct developments and research at an international leading university and contribute to the developments of the state-of-the-art in biomedical optics sensing technologies and computational analytics for clinical applications. Prof. Tachtsidis' research group is internationally recognised as a world leading laboratory in the development and translation of optical technologies to solve clinical needs. The appointed person will work in a multidisciplinary team led by Prof. Tachtsidis.

The post is available from 1st October and will be funded up to 6 months in the first instance. For Informal enquires please connect with Prof Tachtsidis if you have any questions.
