They will be responsible for the safe co-ordination of the SDEC on a shift to shift basis ensuring patient flow is maintained in a timely fashion.

They will be responsible for maintain the safety of the unit on a shift by shift basis, escalating any issues to the Band 7/Management team.

They will deliver planned care to a group of patients working within the standards of proficiency out lined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.

They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff/learners within the clinical environment as needed.

They will be managing the phone hub to ensure patients are streamed to the right pathway facilitating a good patient journey at the front door.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Minimum of 2 years post qualification Teaching qualification, SLIP/Mentorship NMC Registered Nurse

Desirable criteria

Deteriorating Adults Course

Experience

Essential criteria

Demonstrable experience within relevant specialities

Previous acting Band 6

Knowledge

Has knowledge of Acute Medicine
