Aberdeen, United Kingdom Sword Group Full time

Are you ready to play a key role in propelling organisations on their data driven journey?

Sword builds foundations across platforms, data, and applications and our people have a shared passion for technology and solving complex business challenges for our customers.

Our core values and culture are based on caring about our people, investing in training and career development and building inclusive teams where we are all encouraged to contribute to achieve success.  Our people and culture are our highest priority in all we do. Measurable feedback is captured annually to ensure we continue to improve and develop our offering.

If these values are important to you, and you are looking to take the next step in your career with an established and growing company, we’re delighted to share a newly created opportunity to join the Sword team in the role of Subsurface Data Compliance Lead.

About the role

Energy companies holding hydrocarbon licenses in the UK must comply with an increasingly complex regulatory environment, including obligations for retention and reporting of their subsurface data.

This role is focused on ensuring that subsurface data compliance requirements are met by identifying, managing, preparing and submitting Subsurface data and information.

In doing so, the role will enable better decision making, whilst reducing risk of non-compliance, streamlining access to data and enabling cost savings.

The Subsurface Data Compliance Specialist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining Well & Seismic data management services for our clients with a focus on ensuring regulatory compliance: specifically Information and Samples Retention and Reporting obligations. This will include work across client databases, coordination of various compliance improvement efforts and creation and implementation of Information and Samples Plans (ISPs).

This role will be 40 hours per week, hybrid working model of 3 days on the client site and 2 days home office.

Requirements

This role will demand attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a thorough understanding of the geotechnical data and systems commonly in use across the subsurface data management landscape.

 Essential:

  • 5+ Years Subsurface Data Management experience
  • In depth knowledge of the UK Regulatory Framework pertaining to Information and Samples
  • Experience creating and implementing Information and Samples Plans
  • Experience supporting licence rounds
  • Experience of UK Energy Portal applications (PEARS, WONS, PETS etc.)
  • Experience with UK National Data Repository
  • Knowledge of physical storage, digitisation, transcription and retention schedules
  • Working understanding of corporate data governance
  • In depth knowledge of Subsurface data lifecycles
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Adaptable to new technologies
  • Process-driven and methodical

Ideal, but not essential:

  • Data Management qualifications or certifications (CPDA, RGU PDM / EDM courses)
  • Experience as Information and Samples Coordinator (ISC), PON_9 Coordinator, Former CDA Council, Licence Coordinator or similar
  • A good awareness of geospatial concepts
  • Understanding of DPA / GDPR and corporate contract restrictions pertaining to data (i.e. SPEC/purchased data)
  • Experience and understanding of regulatory frameworks
  • An appreciation of Business Analysis and Project Management Pathways

Benefits

Our people are supported and encouraged to develop their career with Sword through their own personal learning and development plan, alongside a competitive salary, pension, private health, wellbeing and insurance schemes, a flexible approach to working, and employee assistance programme.

Sword is committed to maintaining a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunities employer.  All applicants receive equal consideration for employment regardless of age, disability, gender identity or reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
