An exciting Band 6 role has arisen within Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join our expanding Stroke Service to work at Maidstone & Sevenoaks Hospital and in the community setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and to gain specialist clinical skills, support and supervise others and participate in service development. 

Main duties of the job

You will need to be able to work in a fast paced and busy environment, have excellent communication skills and have experience of an acute hospital setting. You will have the opportunity of working within the acute setting on the newly built HASU and ASU as well as the rehab patway in the community and at Sevenoaks.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Diploma/Degree in Occupational therapy HCPC Registration Evidence of CPD

Desirable criteria

Member of Professional Body Member of special interest group Practice Educator Qualification.

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria

Post qualification experience with experience in an acute physical setting Evidence of personal and professional development Experience of working as part of an occupational therapy team and/or multi disciplinary team Experience of working with support workers An understanding of common neurological conditions In depth knowledge of stroke. Application of OT theory in the treatment of medical, orthopaedic and neurological conditions in an inpatient setting

Desirable criteria

Experience of acute in patient treatment Experience within acute stroke. Supervision of junior staff and students Knowledge of SSNAP

Ability to manage own caseload Experience and commitment to multi-disciplinary working Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise workload. Ability to delegate to others appropriately Computer literate
