An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Administrative Team Leader to join our JAG accredited Endoscopy Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Leading a dedicated team of Endoscopy Schedulers the role will support the delivery of timely and accurate patient bookings for Endoscopy Patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the direct line management of a team of Schedulers and Receptionists working in a busy and dynamic department. The Team Leader role is integral to the effective provision of cancer treatment and Gastrointestinal diagnosis.

The applicant must have acute attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to lead, often under pressure.

An understanding or experience with hospital bookings, patient centre care is essential. Previous line management would be beneficial but not essential. The applicant must have a can-do attitude towards problem solving and an interest in streamlining service performance. A positive and collaborative manner is key to working in the NHS environment.

Main duties of the job

The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the scheduling team, undertaking appraisals, identifying and addressing training needs and ensuring there is a robust and consistent service at all times.

You will facilitate a working environment which fosters effective and respectful working to support the overall performance of the unit.

Participating in regular data collation and managing the timely rescheduling of last minute urgent changes to patient bookings. In addition, you will lead on the management and reporting of the Endoscopy planned and active waiting lists, ensuring patients are booked in line with national standards and Cancer wait times.

You will work closely with the Endoscopy Service Manager, Nursing team and Clinicians ensuring timely bookings are made and communicated to patients both verbally and written. 

Working for our organisation

The endoscopy service is delivered over two sites, Royal Preston Hospital (RPH) and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital (CDH). We serve a population of 370,000 people.

Both endoscopy units are Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accredited. JAG accreditation demonstrates that we achieve a high quality and safe service ensuring excellent patient experience. Accreditation allows our Trust to complete procedures for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for those between 60-74 years, and the Bowel Scope Screening for those of 55 years of age to remove polyps from the colon, help prevent bowel cancer and also detect asymptomatic cancers to improve outcomes.

We complete a range of endoscopic procedures; gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP and EUS. We provide a range of breath tests including for bacterial overgrowth, lactose intolerance and helicobacter pylori.
