Main duties of the job

The Unit is a busy tertiary referral centre with a catchment area of approximately million in the central south coast of England. The Southampton Colorectal unit consists of 12 Consultant Surgeons (2 academic, and 10 NHS consultants).

Daily W/R at University Hospital Southampton and or Spire Hospital Southampton for NHS patients Supervision of Foundation doctors Supervised theatre lists, endoscopy lists (as per subspecialty and stage of training), outpatients Teaching commitments to medical students Person Specification

Qualifications and training

Essential

GMC registration MRCS/FRCS/ARCS as per JCHST requirements

Previous or relevant experience

Relevant post registration experience

Experience at Registrar level

Evidence of successful completion of an ATLS Course Understanding of clinical risk management Work without direct supervision where appropriate Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach Good manual dexterity & hand/eye co-ordination Interpersonal skills Shows initiative/drive/enthusiasm, resilience & Flexible Clinical audit Organisational & prioritisation skills
