About the Role
The Community Occupational Therapy Team in Adult Care, Rochdale are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join their busy service. The work is fast paced and varied and the successful candidate will be a key member of the Community Occupational Therapy Service.
The role includes assessment and recommendation of standard stock equipment and minor adaptations for Adults with a range of conditions including Physical Disabilities, Mental Health, Complex needs, Older people and those with enduring diagnoses.
The Community Occupational Therapy Service operates a Central Duty within the Borough, and staff are also located within an Integrated Neighbourhood Locality Base where they will be working alongside Social care staff including support planners, care navigators and social workers as well as Health staff including Physiotherapists and District Nurses.
The work is predominantly assessment of individuals with eligible needs within their home environment and assisting them to maintain their safety and independence in their own homes. The role also includes Duty work and supporting Occupational Therapists with reviews and follow up visits. Signposting and onward referrals also form part of the assessment and review process
There is also a further opportunity of a part time position (18.5 hrs) within the Short Term Assessment and Reablement Service. This role will involve working in the Community to support individuals to regain potential following illness . The work is fast paced and outcome based. Supervision is from the STARS Occupational Therapist.
We are also looking for Casual Occupational Therapy Opportunities to support our busy service we are keen to offer the opportunity of some casual work within the Community Occupational Therapy Service, and candidates will be asked at interview if this is something that they would also be interested in.
About You
The successful Occupational Therapy Assistant will manage their own case load, and work under the direction of the Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist. They may also be required to complete assessments for Disabled Facility Grants.
Applicants will need to have a good understanding of ICT and the ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook to support their learning. Training and support will be provided to successful candidates.
The Occupational Therapy staff have their own Practice Development Group and there are regular opportunities to attend training and peer group sessions. Regular supervision is available from and Advanced Practitioner Occupational therapist.
The post holder’s must be able to demonstrate an ability to travel around the Borough of Rochdale.
