Tasks
  • Expert Client Support: Act as the primary point of contact for complex payroll inquiries, providing expert guidance on intricate payroll scenarios and legislation.
  • Advanced Payroll Processing: Handle complex payrolls with multiple pay frequencies, diverse employee types, and unique deduction structures.
  • Error Resolution: Independently investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Process Optimisation: Identify and implement improvements to existing payroll processes, streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency.
  • Compliance Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of current payroll legislation and regulations, ensuring all processes adhere to legal requirements.
  • Training & Mentoring: Train and mentor junior payroll specialists, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Assist with the administration and configuration of payroll software, ensuring optimal functionality and data integrity.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify and rectify any errors or inconsistencies.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate detailed payroll reports and analyse data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and providing proactive support.
  • Project Leadership: Lead or participate in special payroll projects, such as implementing new systems or migrating client data.
Requirements
  • Advanced Payroll Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
  • Leadership: Ability to guide and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Tech Savviness: Proficiency with payroll software and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Prior experience in payroll processing or a related field is a must
  • Prior experience in a bureau setting is preferred but not essential
