Job summary

The Community Children's Health Partnership (CCHP) Sirona provides a range of services to the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset communities. We are currently recruiting to a fixed-term 12 month band 8a Clinical Psychologist ( wte, hours per week) to join our Specialist Autism Assessment Service.

We would consider appointing at band 7 for someone with the relevant experience and skills . We would welcome applications from similar professions with the right relevant experience, , Specialist Autism Nurse or Psychotherapist.

You will be joining the Emotional Behavioural Wellbeing team, consisting of Clinical Psychology, Specialist Nursing and an Assistant Clinical Psychologist - offering complex Autism assessments to children and young people who have experienced multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences and those with complex social-emotional-behavioural presentations. Differential diagnosis and formulation is a key part of this role, so the post-holder will have neurodevelopmental as well as mental health and trauma experience. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and innovative clinician wanting to work within a multi-disciplinary team to improve the outcomes for this population.

Main duties of the job

This post would suit someone who enjoys providing complex assessment and formulation to children, young people and families. The role includes:

Provision of highly specialist Autism assessments for children and young people with complex needs as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To offer formulations to children, families and multi professional colleagues in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder and differential diagnoses in complex cases. To provide psychological consultancy and support for other staff within multi-professional and cross agency service delivery systems for children and young people with complex needs. This will include joint work as appropriate. To provide clinical supervision for other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Essential

Currently registered with HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist or equivalent profession with relevant experience (, Specialist Autism Nurse or Psychotherapist)

Experience

Essential

Experience working as a Clinical Psychologist (or similar profession) with children and young people and/or individuals with neurodevelopmental complexities Experience of working in multi-disciplinary services and multi-agency contexts Experience of working in a health or mental health setting

Desirable

Experience of service development and/or audit in multi-disciplinary teams Experience of teaching and training other professions and other agencies on psychological matters Experience of supervision of Clinical Psychologists or other professional groups

Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of local Working Together arrangements in particular Children in Need and Child Protection

Desirable

Knowledge of national and local guidance/policy regarding children and young people with health needs and special educational needs

Skills

Essential

Advanced level of assessment and formulation of complex needs related to children and young people and/or neurodevelopmental differences The ability to communicate effectively and empathically highly complex and sensitive information to clients and their families The ability to work effectively, offer consultation and address complex clinical issues within the context of multi-disciplinary teams including Community Child Health Services, and other partner agencies including Children and Young People Services and Education The ability to manage and prioritise a specialist caseload alongside other professional duties The ability to manage highly distressing and emotionally challenging clinical situations and their impact on clients and colleagues The ability to maintain accountability for own professional actions through knowledge of BPS code of conduct (or equivalent) and relevant Trust policies The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

The ability to provide consultation and training on psychological matters to a broad range of professionals The ability to collaborate with others in the development of services (as appropriate).
