An exciting career opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join the Specialist Community Eating Disorder Team and get involved in exciting new service developments.

We are looking for someone who is passionate and motivated to work with eating disorder patients.

Main duties of the job

You will be working alongside the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of both individual and group interventions. We are looking for someone who can work autonomously and independently and has a good foundation in working clinically with patients. The role is focused on delivering guided self-help for eating disorders and support patients who are accessing computerised CBT.

Support and supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and wider team. There are also opportunities for additional supervision and training. Through this support there is the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in eating disorder.

This post may also at times require some liaison with the teams in South Glos, North Somerset, BANES and Bristol, so may require traveling to different bases.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical
  • To assist the delivery of psychological interventions within STEPS under the supervision of the service clinical psychologist.
  • To provide psychological interventions to both individuals and groups under the direction and clinical supervision of the service clinical psychologist
  • To work independently on a day to day basis, after goals have been agreed and reviewed in clinical supervision
  • To gather and organize data gathered through delivery of interventions to support evaluation and audit
  • To work alongside other team members and ensure close liaison and communication with partner agencies
  • To maintain a high level of professionalism at all times when working with distressed people.
  • To maintain good standard of clinical records and statistics in line with AWP requirements as appropriate.

Supervision

  • To take part in regular clinical supervision provided by the service clinical psychologist.
  • In addition to the above to take part in group and peer supervision and reflective practice as required.

Teaching and Training:

  • To undertake relevant training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise.
  • To deliver teaching and training for other members of the multidisciplinary team and staff in other agencies, in collaboration with or under the guidance of qualified clinical psychologists.
  • To assist in the production of materials used for the purpose of teaching, training and group work.

Research and Audit

  • To assist with the audit and evaluation of the service including focus groups as required in collaboration with qualified clinical psychologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To carry our literature searches and reviews as required.
  • To participate in audit and personal review activities as required.
