Theatre Support Worker

We are looking for a Theatre Healthcare Assistant to join our welcoming and dynamic theatre team, we have a positions available within our department.
Previous experience within paediatric surgery is desirable but not essential as you will be given training and support by the perioperative team to develop new skills to equip you in the paediatric setting. You are required to have a care certificate.
As a department we have an expert Practice Education team who support our peri-operative team to help teach, develop, and strengthen these skills in order to support your ongoing professional development.

We have 19 operating theatres and cater for a number of specialities including Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopaedic, Spinal, Craniofacial, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Urology, Renal, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmology.
Main duties of the job- To work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team, helping registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in the work associated with providing care to meet the health and well-being of the child/young people and their families
- Assist registered nurses with delegated clinical tasks
- Able to use technology, basic understand of word, excel, power point and appropriate equipment
- Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the healthcare team, the child/young person and their family/carers/visitors
- Assist in maintaining a clean environment that is conducive to safe practice, cleaning patient equipment as required

- GCSE (Grade 4 – 9) in English and Mathematics or Functional Skills level 2 pass in English and Mathematics or equivalent recognised qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care ( University Certificate of Competence in Principles of Children & Young People Healthcare, advanced diploma, Higher apprenticeship Level 3) or Healthcare Support Worker Level 2
- Care Certificate
- Willingness to develop and undertake in-house study
- Has the ability to recognise situations that require reporting and demonstrates the ability to escalate to a senior person where appropriate
- Knowledge and understanding of the health service
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of child/young person and their families. Including: •Nutrition and hydration •Dignity and respect •Infection control •Safeguarding vulnerable people •Health promotion Confidentiality
- Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.

- Demonstrable previous experience of providing direct patient care in a hospital or experience in caring for children/young people in a child/young person community healthcare/hospice setting

- Able to carry out administrative and clerical duties appropriate to their work area
