Job summary

We are looking got a Multi-Skilled Support Worker to join the team

The Short Stay Unit is a 40 bedded Unit which specialises in prioritising and delivering first line treatments and care to stabilise acutely ill patients prior to discharging home in a safe, prompt and timely manner.

Although the Short Stay Unit is a very busy and demanding department, it offers a wide variety of acute medical conditions across the ages. The Unit is fully supported by all members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver care that at all times is outstanding.

The unit is open 365 days a year and is a 24 hour service, The postholder will be expected to work a variance of shifts including bank holiday to ensure the highest level of care is maintained at all times.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

Demonstrate good communication skills and understanding of basic requirements for individual patient care. Recognise people's right to privacy and dignity, treating every person with respect

Desirable

Awareness of Safeguarding issues

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ 3 in care or willingness to work towards. Educated to a good standard of general education equivalent to GCSE Maths & English level C or above Care Certificate or commitment to achieving within 2 weeks of commencement

Desirable

Care Certificate qualification.

Further Training

Essential

Able to attend a 5-day Clinical Induction Committed to attending further training and development as identified

Experience

Essential

Able to demonstrate clear and robust verbal and written English communication skills Experience of working as part of a team Previous care work experience Previous face-to-face customer care experience

Previous experience in a hospital setting

Contractual

Flexible approach Able to work flexibly on a varied shift pattern according to the roster including nights and weekends
