Job overview

The Lindo Wing is a busy and clinically diverse private patients unit, with outpatient consulting rooms, surgical and maternity wards and dedicated operating theatres.

We have a well-established team who undertake the essential work to underpin all clinical inpatient activity of private patients throughout the Trust, assisted by Compucare financial software.

The post holder will work as a member of the administrative team and their duties will involve booking and tracking inpatient admissions, liaising with our nursing and theatre team, keeping track of financial cover and meeting with the general public and professional staff from a wide variety of specialties. This role will require a flexible and professional approach to your work. 

We are looking for a fantastic communicator with excellent customer care skills who is able to work effectively as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. Previous experience in a busy healthcare setting would be an advantage but not essential.

You would also be expected to provide occasional cover on our other two private units at the Charring Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals when necessary.

Main duties of the job

To welcome patients, consultant medical staff, visitors and all other members of staff to the Lindo Wing as part of Imperial Private Healthcare. To co-ordinate all inpatient admissions, ensuring that tests and investigations relating to the admissions are arranged as required, with the aim of maximising both bed occupancy and income for the Trust. This is inclusive of liaison with medical and nursing staff to ensure appropriate room allocation. To liaise closely with the theatre manager for Imperial private healthcare at the Lindo wing to agree all private operations, ensuring that these are efficiently organised and that any prosthesis or other pieces of equipment are ordered in a timely manner. To ensure that any private theatre sessions not being used are escalated to the service manager within a 48 hour period. To be able to provide daily admission paperwork to senior managers as requested.
