Key to the delivery of priorities identified in the Thriving at Oxford Action Plan is the creation of two part-time roles, one of which is the Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Trainer.Under the guidance of the Wellbeing Programme Manager, the postholder will work with the Staff Wellbeing Programme Manager and the Staff Mental Health and Skills Training Lead, sitting within the University Counselling Service (part of the Student Welfare and Support Services). The postholder will appropriately and effectively provide mental health awareness training for staff and other programmes of training related to mental health and wellbeing. Training is delivered in-person except in exceptional circumstances and as agreed with the Staff Mental Health and Skills Training Lead. To assist with the management and monitoring of training to ensure consistency and quality of delivery, including attendance and staff engagement. To provide regular information to the Staff Mental Health and Skills Training Lead and administrative staff in order to ensure that financial matters relating to the programme are accurate and up-to-date. To evaluate the training on a regular basis both through trainee feedback and any relevant colleagues and to submit this information to the Staff Mental Health and Skills Training Lead and Wellbeing Programme Manager to support a culture of continuous improvement. To contribute to the development of a staff engagement strategy to effectively assess staff need both for the present and the future. To attend regular line management meetings, team meetings, supervision and associated department events, engaging with individual and team staff development opportunities. To assist with the development of associated training resources and communications and ensure that information is appropriate and accurate. To signpost appropriately to University services related to health and wellbeing such as the Occupational Health Services, the EAP, the People and Organisational Development Department and others. To work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and deliver ad hoc mental health or wellbeing training based on staff need. To ensure that appropriate and accurate information about the Programme is publicised. To abide by the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy of which Student Welfare and Support Services is an organisational member and/or any regulation to which the postholder is subject by virtue of their qualification. About You Essential selection criteria 1. Applicants must have British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Individual Counsellor Accreditation / UKCP Registration or equivalent body e.g. Chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS); Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the case of a Psychologist, qualified as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist OR have an appropriate NMC registration as a Mental Health Nurse.2. Knowledge and understanding of the welfare and mental health support needs of staff in a Higher Education (HE) setting. 4. Substantial experience of delivering training, therapeutic groups or psychoeducational workshops.5. Ability to take an active part in the development of new and existing training incorporating evidence of best practice and making complex theoretical concepts accessible to a staff audience who may not have clinical experience.6. Ability to manage own time and team resources well and prioritise appropriately where needed.7. A sophisticated awareness of confidentiality issues and an appreciation of the sensitivity involved in handling the complexities of personal material in relation to the University’s duty of care and the collegiate system. Desirable selection criteria Experience of working within the Higher Education sector. Experience in evaluating training methods and outcomes, including qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
