Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Carry out reception duties for the Learning Disability Forensic Service. Greet and assist visitors appropriately, dealing with general enquiries. Undertake switchboard duties, dealing courteously with all incoming telephone calls routing as appropriate and taking messages when necessary. Undertake the administration of keys and alarms to staff and maintenance of the system for ensuring safe and secure adherence to the system. Have the ability to work within timescales and to deadlines. Maintain stationery stocks and ordering of same. Undertake photocopying and distribute information to relevant departments on request. Deal with incoming and outgoing mail as required. Undertake filing and maintenance of filing systems. Work as part of a team helping to support other members of the admin and clerical team as and when required. Liaise with other agencies and Trust departments as and when necessary. Carry out any such delegated clerical and administrative tasks as required, bearing in mind that this job description may change in line with service developments at the discretion of the Service Manager. Be able to work in the service area. Be physically fit and able to successfully complete a prevention and management of aggression training course and annual refresher. Have the skills and confidence to manage service users who may exhibit violence and aggression using approved physical intervention techniques as necessary.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Basic IT skills, good literacy and numeracy

Desirable

RSA 2 Typing or equivalent NVQ2 in Business Administration or willingness to work towards Educated to ECDL level or willing to undertake qualification within an agreed timescale.

Experience

Essential

Previous general office/clerical experience.

Desirable

Clerical experience with a Health Service setting

Skills

Essential
