Job summary
An exciting opportunity has presented itself within the Integrated Breast Service for the post of Fixed Term Specialty Doctor in Breast Surgery to cover a vacancy for one year. This will be based at Worthing Hospital with some cross site working (Chichester), as part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The role will be a full time 10 PA post with the opportunity to cover all aspects of the surgical service from one stop 2WW rule clinics, theatre support and depending of experience some potential independent operating plus follow up activity.
The successful candidate will join a busy breast surgical service and providing breast screening to a population of over 135,000 women and receiving over 7,500 GP referrals and treating around 900 new breast cancers.
There is a purpose built stand-alone department at Worthing hospital with modern digital equipment including tomosynthesis and VAB/E.
There are Consultant breast surgeon posts working across Worthing, Chichester and Brighton. They have developed a good reputation within the Trust in terms of extending the boundaries of reconstructive expertise.
There are 3 specialty doctor posts working across Worthing & Chichester, there is a surgical care practitioner with all supporting outpatient clinics, wound check clinics and theatre support
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post will include the following:
Participation in one stop symptomatic, wound check and results clinics across Worthing Contributing to the care of the in-patients and out-patients clinic Theatre assistant - participating in operating lists, independent operating if experience allows this Administrative duties associated with the care of patients.There are no on-call commitments associated with this post.
