Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Breast Service for the role of Fixed Term Consultant in Breast Surgical Medicine. This position is designed to address a temporary vacancy and will involve collaboration across various sites as part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

The role encompasses a full-time commitment with a structured 10 PA schedule, allowing for comprehensive engagement in the surgical services, including participation in specialized clinics, theatre assistance, and, depending on qualifications, opportunities for independent surgical procedures and follow-up care.

The selected candidate will become part of a dynamic breast surgical team, providing essential breast screening services to a significant population and managing a high volume of referrals and new cancer cases.

Our facility features a state-of-the-art, dedicated department equipped with advanced digital technology, enhancing our diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

Our team includes Consultant breast surgeons who collaborate across multiple locations, having established a strong reputation for their expertise in reconstructive surgery.

Within the team, there are several specialty doctor roles, supported by surgical care practitioners who assist with outpatient services, wound management, and theatre operations.

Key Responsibilities

The clinical responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Engagement in one-stop symptomatic clinics, wound assessments, and results discussions.
  • Contributing to the management of both in-patients and out-patients.
  • Assisting in surgical procedures, with opportunities for independent operations based on experience.
  • Completing administrative tasks related to patient care.

There are no on-call duties linked to this position.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Medical degree qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • A minimum of four years post-graduation experience, including completion of foundation training.

  • Experience in breast surgical procedures.
