The Planning Team within the NHS Executive have responsibilities in supporting NHS Wales Executive strategic planning, directorate planning and the development of regional and national planning functions

The Assistant Planning and Programme Manager ensures the efficient running of the day to day operations of the NHS Wales Executive Planning Team. The post holder ensures the effective process and mechanisms are in place to manage, update and report on operational and programme/project plans. The post holder will work autonomously over administration and operational management of the planning function.

The post holder is responsible for the effective deployment and maintenance of systems and process to support the NHS Executive in the development and reporting of its strategic and operational plans. The post holder will be expected to have detailed knowledge of administrative and business process and the ability to support multiple streams of work, whilst taking on responsibility for specific projects at the direction of the Planning Manager

The role provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to help deliver exciting projects of work to inform Welsh Government and support NHS Wales to improve health services and patient outcomes across Wales.

Hybrid working will be supported and agreed on appointment.

Main duties of the job

To liaise with a range of staff regarding information requirements for effective programme and planning delivery and performance management of plans and projects

Build and maintain effective and positive working relationships on a local and all Wales basis.

Communicate effectively with all key stakeholders. Examples of this would include communicating planning implications in relation to IT system to a range of clinical and non clinical staff.

Engage effectively with internal stakeholders to better understand their requirements and support the development of appropriate solutions/improvements.

Using a variety of methods including oral, written and electronic to communicate service related information to service users, senior managers, external agencies GPs, Hospital Services, or external suppliers of services.

Uses skills of tact, diplomacy and persuasion to gain the support of staff, clinicians to buy in to plans

As a supervisor, communicate effectively with all support staff working within the planning team to ensure efficient and high quality team work is maintained.

As a key member of the NHS Executive Planning team, the post holder must be able to communicate effectively at all levels and disseminate information to the department as appropriate. The post holder will also be expected to represent the service at local and all Wales meetings as and when required.
