Job summary

The CNS will work effectively as an autonomous practitioner and as a coremember of the multi-disciplinary team within the Hematuria pathway and Bladder cancer serviceto provide the highest possible standards of care.

The care and management of patients who are undergoing investigations for suspected bladder cancer and patients diagnosed and being treated for bladder cancer. To provide support and information in the inpatient and outpatient setting at St Georges as well as supporting haematuria lists at Queen Marys and the Nelson centre. To provide holistic care and health promotion for our patient's. Completing holistic needs assessments and liaising with the smoking cessation team, care of the elderly team and stoma care team in order to optimise the pre-habilitation and optimisation of the patient prior to treatment for bladder cancer. To provide care to patients with benign urological conditions and urological cancer services, provision of outpatient urology services,supporting the Emergency Department and supporting Urology medical teams. To provide Clinical Nurse Specialist support and information to patients, families and their carers on the haematuria pathway, at diagnosis and through out their bladder cancer journey. To work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team. To develop protocols and run nurse led clinics.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CNS to join our well-established bladder cancer team at St Georges.

The post holder will be responsible for the care and management of patients who are undergoing investigations for suspected bladder cancer and patients who have been diagnosed with bladder cancer and are undergoing treatment or being followed up by the bladder cancer team.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate nurse with experience in running nurse led clinics.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an expert level of skill and knowledge in the field of Urology with at least 2 years relevant experience at band 6 or above. This post requires a nurse who not only is an autonomous practitioner but also works well in a team. You are expected to cover cross sites- (SGH and Queen Mary's Roehampton).
