Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a Specialist Occupational Health Nurse Adviser to join our excellent team. You will be part of a pro-active Occupational Health Nursing team and be involved in all aspects of the service providing a comprehensive service to our staff. 

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within Occupational Health, proficient IT Skills and a flexible pro-active approach to work to be able to manage a varied and demanding workload. 

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Health Nurse Adviser you will be able to provide specialist guidance and support to managers and staff, without direct supervision in accordance with national legislation and local policies, procedures and protocols. Your responsibilities will include the day to day delivery of occupational health services, health assessments, immunisation and serology, health surveillance and Management referrals whilst also being involved with the wider team to help us make continual improvements.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Current registration with NMC on part one of the Register Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing or relevant equivalent experience. Portfolio of evidence of continuing professional development and its application

Desirable criteria

Registration with NMC on part three of the register

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge within the clinical environment Working knowledge of health and safety regulations Quality issues and detailed understanding of clinical governance, audit and clinical effectiveness and their application to Occupational Health

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of risk management processes Knowledge of Occupational Health in the NHS, and its role in providing services to business

Experience

Essential criteria

Proven delivery of evidence based clinical practice within OH Environment Experience of clinical management in the absence of senior colleagues Experience of supervising and teaching junior colleagues Experience of case management

Desirable criteria

OH experience within an NHS environment

Skills

Essential criteria

Proven verbal and written communication with all members of the healthcare team, colleagues, clients and managers Able to work as part of a specialist OH team, accessing current specialist knowledge to provide evidence based clinical care Able to work within management referral triage process, including assessment, referral and discharge competence Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload within predetermined time frames
