Job overview

THIS POST IS A SECONDMENT/FIXED TERM FOR 18 MONTHS DUE TO SERVICE NEEDS

We are looking to appoint a DXA reporting specialist clinical technologist or radiographer or clinical nurse (specialist) to collaboratively work on the DXA section of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. The post-holder will work towards ensuring the sustainability and development of the DXA reporting sub-section of the department. The ideal candidate will be a qualified diagnostic radiographer with current HCPC registration, or a clinical technologist with current RCT registration or a clinical nurse specialist with NMC registration, with demonstrable experience in DXA.

This is a 12-month secondment position established as an interim measure while the department goes through work force planning and organisational change plan with the aim of making it a permanent position. The successful candidate will be ensuring that DXA reporting is performed in a timely manner, meeting departmental’ s KPI. This is an exciting opportunity to take part and lead change in a currently fast developing setting.

Part-time working arrangements may also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will undertake DXA image validation, evaluation and reporting (and other reporting activities within the department in line with their scope of practice) and will participate in departmental leadership and management duties in conjunction with key senior staff, specifically working closely with the Chief Clinical Technologists, CT Lead Radiographer and the Clinical Team Lead. The workload will include DXA reporting (approximately 40%), working clinically in any of NM imaging sections (approximately 40%), and service management in their sub-section specialist area (approximately 20%). Workload split adjustments will be needed to ensure adequate cross-cover levels in periods of absence (annual leave, sickness, or others), or as required by departmental management. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the day to day planning of the service alongside the Chief Technologists and to provide the operational leadership that this requires. They should also be able to demonstrate evidence of organisational and leadership skills and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Nuclear Medicine at Singleton is a friendly and progressive service. The Department is accredited by IPEM for training and has links to Swansea and Cardiff University through research and formal academic teaching. Continuing professional development of all staff is encouraged and supported. Full training in Nuclear Medicine will be provided to a suitable candidate.
