Our Risk and Compliance function has a critical role to play in supporting, challenging and advising across all areas of the business through establishing policy, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk and compliance.

We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organisation and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate. As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Lead Risk Officer.

In this role, you will:

• Evaluate and provide timely, concise and well-reasoned approvals (within a delegated personal approval authority) and recommendations.
• Be the point of contact within HSBC UK for Wholesale exposures to Financial Institutions, Funds, Sovereigns, CCP’s and Structured Products including securitisations.
• Actively contribute to HSBC Group’s appetite discussions and defining HSBC UK Risk views and recommendations.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders across Global Banking and Commercial Banking including Markets Treasury, MSS, Structured Finance and Legal

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Have a solid and diversified banking background with a thorough understanding of lending practices and guidelines as well as a robust knowledge of the relevant business areas, counterparty risks and markets products.
• Demonstrable strong analytical and technical skills, as well as the ability to quickly understand and consolidate diverse and complex information including financial statement and cashflow analysis to identify and mitigate risks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to participate in discussions with stakeholders across multiple functions.
