Market Risk Advisory Analyst

A Risk Advisory Analyst works within the client-facing team at Validus to provide financial market risk management consultancy services to clients.
We are looking for confident, analytical, and articulate individuals with the ability to build relationships with senior decision-makers at some of the world's leading private equity managers, institutional investors, and corporations (C-suite, Portfolio Managers, Board Members, Executive Teams). This is an ideal role for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
The Analyst will be responsible for:
- Working with clients to identify and quantify market risk exposures across various asset classes (FX, rates, commodities, equities), and structure derivative-based hedging strategies to mitigate those exposures.
- Designing creative and customised client solutions, backed by rigorous analytical evidence.
- Analysing client information and quantitative output.
- Producing client analysis and preparing periodic performance reports.
- Building, managing, and developing relationships with a small number of high-value clients receiving the Validus retainer service, including:
- Strategic consultancy services
- Innovative project work
- Pro-active client service
- Risk analytics on technology platform
Ensuring a high quality of deliverables is maintained at all times.
Working collaboratively with all teams and colleagues to serve client base.
Building an understanding of the functionalities available on Validus technology products.
Keeping up-to-date with academic, technical, and industry developments.
Attending client, industry, and networking events.
Adhering to Financial Conduct Authority Rules and Regulations.
Adhering to all internal policies and procedures.
Ensuring compliance and understanding of security best practices across teams in line with Validus ISO Policy.
Requirements
Qualifications, Requirements, and Preferred Skills
- Relevant Undergraduate Degree is a minimum requirement.
- Post-Graduate qualification is a plus (e.g. MBA, CFA, Masters in Finance, FRM, AMCT/MCT, CIMA, CAIA, etc.).
- Knowledge of FX, interest rate, and commodity derivatives, and how these products can be used from a risk management perspective.
- No experience required but 1-3 years professional experience within financial services is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, exposure to Bloomberg.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
- Strong numerical skills, analytically-oriented mindset, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and under tight deadlines.
- Passionate about financial markets, probability and risk.
- Understanding of the alternative asset management space.
