3 months contract with localauthorityThe position sitswithin the Telecare and Sensory Team which is part of the OlderPeople and Physical Disabilities Services in Adult Social Care. TheSensory Team support residents with Sight Loss Hearing Loss andDual Sensory Loss (Deafblind) to meet their social care needspromote their independence and help them achieve their goals andoutcomes in order to improve their wellbeing. The team undertakesSensory Needs assessments/reviews under the Care Act 2014 provideequipment minor adaptations lighting assessments and visionrehabilitation (e.g. daily living tasks and indoor and outdoormobility training). Additionally the service provides advice toresidents to optimise the safety and independence and provides awider advisory role around visual impairment to wider health andsocial care colleagues. The post holder will mentor and supervisestaff (including apprentices) manage a caseload of specialistvisual impairment rehabilitation provide visual impairment adviceand support to colleagues across Adult Social Care waiting listmanagement and work prioritisation. The post holder will also beresponsible for keeping up to date with new developments andtechnologies to ensure the independence of residents with a sensoryimpairment is maximised. The post holder will build strong linkswith partner agencies and advocate for residents to accessappropriateservices.
