Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of Speech and Language Therapy Support Workers. We pride ourselves in being a warm and friendly team, who put people at the heart of everything we do.

This team has the benefit of already having over ten support workers, which means you will be well supported by those who know the role well. In addition, all new support workers are provided with a buddy and a mentor from the speech and language therapy team who will guide you not only in your early months in the role, but also in your ongoing development and progression. You will be supported to complete a set of competencies which will ensure you have many opportunities for shadowing and training so that you develop into a confident and highly skilled support worker

We are committed to providing a supportive and forward-thinking environment, with our support workers well-being and career development at its core. In line with this, we have a clear pathway for clinical skill and career progression alongside speech and language apprenticeship opportunities.

We support those who need to work flexibly. Please do speak to us if you have specific requirements which we may be able to support you with.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for working with children with communication difficulties, strong organisational skills and a positive attitude.

What does the job involve?

We see a variety of children and young people in various settings such as schools, nurseries, clinics and their homes. We support young people with a range of speech and language difficulties, this might include children who have additional needs such as being on the autistic spectrum or those with a learning disability.

Therapy Support Workers work under the guidance of a speech and language therapist who will support in making decisions about what therapy or intervention is needed for each individual. The therapy support worker will then often carry out the therapy independently, following sufficient training. This role also includes tasks such as making resources, administrative duties i.e. writing up notes and reports, and will require frequent communication with other adults involved with the young person, such as parents and teachers. Over time, your role will also likely include some elements of providing training for others.

What do our current Support Workers say about working here?

'What I love about being a support worker is that I am surrounded by very supportive, helpful and kind colleagues'

I enjoy independent working and flexible hours

'Since starting as a support worker I have learnt so much, I have also been given opportunities to progress in my career and train as a speech and language therapist'.

We may close the advert early, if we receive a sufficient number of applicants, so please apply as soon as possible.
