Job summary

This painting role is based atFieldhead hospital in Wakefield but covers other health centres in the Wakefieldarea that sits under the trust footprint.

The role is maintaining thedecoration of all service areas covering all aspects of painting and decoratinginternally and externally on the buildings.

The work is varied and changeson a day to day basis in line with service need requirements and prioritisationof works.

Estates trust vehicles areutilised for traveling around the footprint of the trust and the successfulcandidates skillset may at times need to be used on the Barnsley propertieswhich includes Kendray hospital.

This is an exciting role forthe right candidate that likes a challenge in a very demanding environment.

The successful candidate willbecome part of a small team of painters who work in with and support othertrades and maintenance assistants in day to day duties.

Reactive works are the mainduties of this post but our estates painting lead does run and manage fullpainting programmes for all areas across the trust foot print.

Main duties of the job

o To carry out routine painting maintenance of Trust properties

o Carry out internal and external decoration of ward areas, departments and common areas.

o Be able to be fully conversant with various types of application

Oil based paints Acrylic paints Spraying techniques Wall papering finishes.

o The postholder will be expected to increase his/her knowledge with in-house/external courses to carry out basic duties of other trades -

i. Light cleaning, lamp replacement with relevant training

ii. Removing/replacing notice boards, signs, shelves etc.

iii. Basic plastering repairs etc.

o The postholder will manage his/her own workload and liaise with departmental managers for access to ward and patient areas.

o To ensure paint stock levels are maintained and order stock and parts as required.

o To ensure the quality of work is of a high standard at all times.

o Required to carry out work in accordance with working at heights and permit to work system on various functions in various conditions confined spaces, boiler houses, plant rooms, stair wells etc.

o To work from ladders, to erect scaffold (once trained) and safe use of the safety harness system.

The main area of this post is to ensure the fabric of all propertieswithin SWYPT and any other organisations as directed, both internally andexternally are kept to a high standard. The postholder will be expected toundertake training to increase flexibility across other trades.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Experience in related areas, airless spraying, duette, wall papering, plastering. Use of scaffold and safety harness systems.

Desirable

Able to order own materials, cost a job (time materials). To provide written reports relating to incidents/maintenance.

Training

Essential

Fully conversant with Health & Safety issues in workshop environment.

Qualifications

Essential

Driving Licence Clean. City & Guilds or NVQ2 Decoration.

COSHH. Safe use of ladders. Safe use of scaffold. Electrical safety.
