About the job :

As an Employee Relations Investigator you will work independently, reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, as an expert investigator into complex casework. You will also be required to lead complex casework as appropriate. You'll be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of casework assigned to you are dealt with in a thorough, timely and appropriate manner.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Undertake investigations as assigned by the Head of Employee relations for matters including disciplinary, grievance, bullying and harassment and any other matters which may include investigation. Ensure that the investigations are carried out to a high standard, thoroughly and objectively. Lead on complex casework as assigned to resolution. The investigations/casework may be complex in nature and highly sensitive. Undertake difficult investigation interviews, meetings etc, which may involve discussing complex, highly sensitive, confidential and contentious information. Prepare impartial investigation reports and documentation, concluding your findings and next steps.

You'll need to be:

Experienced in all aspects of casework and employee relations. Experience demonstrates a high ability of understanding and interpreting HR policies to make informed conclusions and decisions. Strong and proven organisational skills, attention to detail and analytical skills Excellent presentation skills in terms of producing detailed, objective and thorough investigations. Able to multi task, plan and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines Highly IT literate with excellent Word and Excel skills Proactive in problem solving A team player An excellent communicator both verbal and written, good listener and confident. Able to build strong working relationships in and outside of the HR team

As a minimum, you will need to have:

Previous experience in Employee Relations and specifically casework Previous experience in carrying out investigations to a high standard CIPD qualified/HR equivalent qualification/HR experience Extensive knowledge and practical experience of HR Procedures, processes and practices. Working knowledge of Employment Law and amendments to legislation.

About the location:

This role is to cover the whole of the GWR Network, it is therefore essential that you are able to travel with flexibility as required across the GWR network.

Working Pattern: 5 days a week, 37 hours.
