Job summary

This post will be one of two Lead Clinical Educators who will Lead one of the two Clinical Education Teams delivering the trusts talent for care and professional education and development teams.

They will work across the organisation and report in to the Associate Directors of Nursing.

Main duties of the job

To support and provide professional leadership to the service line based Practice Development Nurses / Practitioners

To lead the education team developing and delivering clinical and non-clinical skills, vocational training programmes for learners across the organisation.

To actively promote patient safety and through the facilitation of training programmes, to ensure that learning reflects improvements to the patient experience.

To work across the trust ensuring that the educational work streams are being co-ordinated and delivering against their KPI's

To line manage and support junior members of the practice education team.

Clinical Skills Training

To lead one of the Trusts clinical education team ensuring that the individual education work streams and the cross-cutting elements and activities are well organised, coordinated and delivered to an excellent standard.

Work as part of the senior education team to review standards of training, programme content and pastoral support for learners taking prompt action to address shortfalls or concerns.

Support and advise ward, department and service line managers in identifying appropriate training programmes to meet the needs of their service as part of the training needs analysis process.

To ensure that training provided internally meets the needs of the service, is in line with best practice and that completion of training is recorded along with any competency assessments as required

Support managers in monitoring the performance of all learners; ensuring they have a clear induction and clinical competencies. They will ensure that each learner is monitored for safe practice and assessed against the Trust and national standards.

Qualifications

Essential

NMC / HCPC Registration BSc in nursing or a related field or equivalent experience Teaching/assessment qualification Experience of training/working in education Masters Level Education or working towards

PgC Medical Education

Experience of delivering Professional Education and Development or Talent for Care Related Projects Experience of working independently and as part of a ward/ team Experience of supervision/management of a clinical team Experience of working with learners undertaking Apprenticeships Experience of planning and facilitating teaching programmes using a variety of learning styles, media and methods

Trained or participated in Human Factors simulation training

Knowledge

Essential

In depth understanding of the Talent for Care or Practice Development agenda Knowledge of NMC/HCPC standards for pre and post registration staff Understanding of current issues in respect of professional training and development for self and others
