Fareham, United Kingdom Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

The new Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) bring exciting opportunities to deliver evidence-based early interventions for Children and Young People, working across educational and healthcare sectors.

Hampshire now have over 10 MHSTs and are very excited to be able to develop a Specialist MHST across the county to work with Special Schools as well as those that are Electively Home Educated. We are looking for experienced Senior EMHPs with a strong passion and motivation for working with CYP with special educational needs including neurodiversity and young people with or without a learning disability, aiming to improve mental health, emotional well-being and self-efficacy to support the development and growth of this new MHST. Staff will offer targeted support to CYP with various additional needs, whilst also supporting the Whole School Approach work in these networks around the CYP.

These new Senior EMHP positions will be based in the Specialist MHST and will support in the leadership and development of the growing EMHP workforce and champion Low Intensity Working. The roles will enhance the offer from the teams in relation to the Whole School Approach and focus on all associated elements to promote resilience and wellbeing across the community. We are seeking innovative Senior EMHPs who can adapt their low intensity interventions where needed for these young people. You will be qualified and have at least 2 years experience as an EMHP or have experience as a Senior EMHP in order to apply.

Main duties of the job

To work as a Senior Qualified member of a Specialist Mental Health Support Team, providing a high quality, psychological therapy service to young people, their families or carers. This will include making adaptions and reasonable adjustments to ensure accessibility for children and young people with additional needs.

In addition, to support psychological practice within the team by communicating effectively about the psychological care of clients, by contributing to the line management and supervision of psychological practitioners and trainees and less experienced psychological therapists, and by participating in systematic clinical governance.

To contribute to the development of the Whole School Approach offer within the MHSTs. To assist in the development and facilitation of skills workshops based on CBT principles. To contribute to the delivery of workshops and Mental Health Promotion projects within Primary and Secondary Schools.

About us

Southern Health is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services.

With a workforce of more than 7000 and a footprint that spans more than 200 sites across Hampshire, we're wholeheartedly committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities, whilst placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.

We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to integrate all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services. Our new organisation, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, is set to launch in July 2024.

The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of healthcare in Hampshire.
