Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant Needed in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position is available for an immediate start and will run until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is between £419.25 and £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students and teachers in the Maths department. This position is perfect for a recent Maths graduate who is considering a career in education or wants to gain valuable classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the Maths teachers in delivering lessons by providing individual and small group support to students. You will help clarify mathematical concepts, answer questions, and ensure that all students are engaged and understand the material.

  • Targeted Interventions: Work with students who may be struggling with certain topics or who need additional support to reach their full potential. Your goal will be to help these students improve their understanding and performance in Maths.

  • Resource Development: Assist in the creation and preparation of teaching materials and resources. You will work closely with the Maths department to develop engaging and effective resources that cater to the needs of students at different levels.

  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and productive learning environment by supporting the school’s behaviour policies. You will assist in managing student behaviour during lessons and promoting a respectful classroom culture.

  • Progress Tracking: Monitor the progress of students you are working with and provide feedback to the teaching staff. This may include helping to assess student work and contributing to discussions about how to further support individual students.

  • Extracurricular Involvement: Engage with students outside of the classroom by supporting Maths-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs or competitions. This is an excellent opportunity to build rapport with students and inspire a passion for Maths.

  • Pastoral Support: Provide additional support to students, offering guidance on both academic and personal matters. You will be a point of contact for students who need someone to talk to or seek advice.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Maths teachers and other staff members to ensure that students receive the best possible support. You will be part of a team effort to help all students succeed in Maths.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A strong interest in education and a desire to work with young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in a clear and accessible way.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work with students at different levels of ability.
  • Experience working with young people, whether in a formal or informal setting, is highly desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
