Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity here at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust for the right person.

We are looking for a Decontamination Technician eager to take the next steps to become a supervisor. Candidates must have decontamination experience and if not already qualified have a commitment to complete a qualification within 18 months.

This role is based at Pinderfields in the central decontamination facility that covers all 3 sites attached to The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. It is a busy department that is always striving for excellence and one that operates a strict quality management system to aid in this.

This is a permanent full time role, working hours per week which includes shifts patterns of to , and to alternating on a weekly basis. This also includes a 1 in 5 rostered weekend and a rostered bank holiday.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the supervision in decontamination to ensure that safeworking practices and quality controls are maintained at all times, including our quality management system ISO13485.

To be responsible for the day to day operational arrangements of theservice.

Be the first point of contact for the resolution of internal andexternal complaints and making routine operational decisions withinpredetermined procedures.

Be responsibile for the training and assessment of staff.

Job description

Job responsibilities

With the co-operation of the training manager,assist in training to ensure all staff have the competences needed to meet thecurrent service and future developments.

Undertake the role of trainer / assessor in linewith departments training program for new staters / apprentices.

Monitor and manage daily production and ensuretargets are met.

Take part in daily Genba giving and receivinginformation to all staff.

Liaise with all supervisors on all shifts toensure information is received by all.

Manage staff annual leave and attendance as perdepartmental policy. Complete any documentation relating to absence in thecorrect areas and keep management informed of any issues.

Prepare daily/weekly rotas so staff are aware ofwork areas and roles.

Assist with recruitment as and when required.

Offer first line counselling to staff asnecessary and liaise with managers as appropriate.

Work with college to support apprentices throughqualification.

Experience

Essential

Previous experience in Decontamination of theatre equipment.

Desirable

Previous Team Leader experience Qualified Decontamination Technician

Knowledge and Awareness

Essential

Working knowledge and awareness of surgical instrumentation and equipment. Working technical knowledge of decontamination. Utilise and find equipment using a tray/scope tracking system Able to fully utilise tracking and processing systems

Desirable

Basic keyboard skills and IT awareness

Flexible approach to work Help to provide out of hours service in emergency situations

Qualifications

Essential

Good general level of education Previous experience in Decontamination of theatre equipment. Commitment to complete IDSc qualification within 18 months.

DMS, NVQ 4 in Management ILM (NEBBS) Supervisory qualification TVQ, NVQ, QCF, apprenticeship in Decontamination Assessor Experience
