Job summary

Following a recent restructure, we are looking to recruit a Deputy Director of Nursing for our unplanned care division.

The Division Encompasses:

Medical Wards and Specialities, Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, Acute Emergency Assessment Unit and a Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner Service

This is an essential role in providing visible professional nursing and, clinical leadership, including support to various teams to achieve the implementation of the Trusts vision and quality priorities.

The appointee will be a key person in the delivery of high-quality patient care, patient safety, culture of inclusivity, staff health and well-being, quality governance, the delivery of agreed performance and financial objectives and ensuring that the division operates with the needs of the patients as its highest priority.

We need an inspirational forward-thinking and innovative leader with clinical credibility, foresight, and ambition. They need to be determined, but also compassionate, action orientated and have a talent for inspiring, engaging and motivating teams.

Main duties of the job

The role will offer leadership and support to all nursing staff within the division. It will also support the nursing agenda and will drive the quality improvements and trust objectives. The role also supports the nursing leadership teams with the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Job responsibilities

Critically evaluate and analyse complex data, information, and reports

Collate and analyse data from a range of sources including incident data,complaint data, risk management data, quality data, performance data andpatient record and care data to produce comprehensive reports and analysis

Conduct complex and detailed analysis of data, trends and patterns including producing thematic analysis

Work closely with the Lead Nurses/Matrons to understand their needs andworkloads and work proactively to provide support to all members of the team.

Provides direct line management for the Divisional Lead Nurses, this includes ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to set challenging but realistic objectives, monitor performance and agree and review performance and personal development plans.

Undertake PDRs with team members in a timely manner, ensuring that these are meaningful to the individual and to the wider organisation.

Ensure robust oversight of relevant budgets.

Deputise for the DDoN during periods of absence or at meetings/ committees relevant to your portfolio.
