Residential Children's Worker

Wakefield, United Kingdom Wakefield Council Full time

Exciting opportunity

We are looking for casual Children's Residential Workers to join our Outstanding team.

You will support two children in a lovely home supported by a team of 6 colleagues.

We are seeking to appoint suitably skilled, motivated and caring Children’s Residential Worker, to work with and support children and young people agedbetween 7 to17 years of age.

There are times when children and young people in care require additional support to manage complex trauma.

Placements of a warm, supportive and have a homely feel are hard to find, and this can result in multiple placement breakdowns before a suitable placement that can contain risk and manage social and emotional needs is found. The result of this leads to young people who are most vulnerable being placed a long way from home and not always achieving the best outcomes. We provide loving homes for children to remain in Wakefield and only receive the best possible care.

This post requires an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with good communication skills. You will need to be organised and confident in interactions with children and young people.

Previous experience of autism, SEN, trauma informed practices, therapeutic caring and connective parenting is desirable although full training will be provided. It is essential that you are kind, caring, patient, resilient and can see the need behind behaviours.

You should be committed to improving the life chances of the children and young people and share our ethos of never giving up.

You will hold a NVQ3 / Diploma in caring for children and young people or be willing to work to achieve this qualification following appointment within two years.

Effective Induction, supervision, and training will be provided to all staff.

The work involves shift patterns, including weekends, sleep in and Bank Holidays.
