Thesuccessful applicant should be a registered nurse or paramedic with an excellentlevel of experience and knowledge of minor illness or injury presentations,from either an urgent care, emergency department, or primary care background.The applicant should also be an independent prescriber and have a good skillset that can contribute to the clinical expertise in the department.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working closely with the UTC Clinical Manager to progress the department in developing clinical pathways, teaching sessions, managing audits, and presenting at governance meetings. As the department continues to recruit developmental roles for paramedics and nurses, the DCM will also involve being responsible for leading in the training and mentoring of newer staff as well. The role will also involve working regular clinical hours in the treatment room to not only support the team but leading by example. There is an expectation this will also involve working some weekends, bank holidays, and supporting the team during busy periods while on management shifts. The successful applicant should have a high degree of ability to work well as part of team, but also autonomously to complete the workload set out by the Clinical Manager.

Clinical Duties

To provide clinical care to patients to include assessing, investigations, diagnosing and treating patients presenting with clinical needs. To provide clinical administration duties such as report writing, processing clinical workflow, letters, test results and referrals. Refer to secondary care where appropriate. Operations

Working with the Clinical and Service Manager & Clinical Lead to support the development, delivery and review of the service specification to include patient experience, KPI targets, resource profile and cost management. Attend regular meetings with Clinical/service manager to support the delivery of the service. Provide clinical leadership for the Service and the primary health care team in delivery of clinical care and recruitment of clinical team members. Support marketing and communications.

Clinical Management

Provide effective leadership, management, direction, inspiration and support to clinical team within the UTC under the direction of the Clinical Manager. Lead with the on-going training and support of the development clinical practitioner team. Encourage and support the clinical team to take responsibility for their own learning. Support the recruitment, selection and induction of the Clinical team delegated to you within the service. Support with any disciplinary and performance issues within the service in line with PHL policy. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Qualified Nurse or Paramedic with a current professional registration. Working towards a Masters qualification with at least post graduate certificate (PGc) level 7 in Advanced Practice or equivalent. Independent Prescribing qualification with at least 2 years post qualification. Minor illness/injury qualification at level 6/7.

Experience

Essential

At least 4 years post registration experience, ideally within a senior role. At least 2 years working within a UTC, ED or primary care setting as an autonomous practitioner. Minor injury experience Mentoring qualification A demonstrable and good standard of continued professional development (CPD) Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written, verbal and particularly listening skills Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability. Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload Be able to clear an Enhanced DBS check/MUST be authorised to work in the UK Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations.
